Powering Mobile Key at Scale: How Hyatt Enhances the Digital Guest Journey with Hapi

The Challenge

Hyatt, with over 1,150 properties worldwide, has long prioritized digital transformation to deliver on its purpose: to care for people so they can be their best. During the COVID-19 pandemic, this focus sharpened around the in-stay digital guest experience. Hyatt needed to reduce friction by centralizing and synchronizing data in real-time, especially to support new digital initiatives, like mobile keys. A major challenge was ensuring the guest experience remained smooth even without internet connectivity, requiring Hyatt to push data proactively and reliably across systems.

The solution

To meet these needs, Hyatt partnered with Hapi to integrate hotel systems and deliver real-time, event-driven data. Hapi’s off-the-shelf integration platform gave Hyatt an agile way to support digital key features and other mobile experiences, offering scalable access to transactional APIs and event streams without complex development work. This architecture allowed Hyatt to keep mobile key data synchronized both online or offline, and laid the groundwork for future digital innovation.
